In the year filled with bitter disappointments in the form of cancellation of almost all the cultural events lined up in the year, what came as a fresh basket of roses was the Aarohan youth festival.
The event saw the dalians showing the full extent of their wrath (which was also because of their frustration) on all the opponents, as a result of which almost all the competitions saw dalians featuring in the top 3.
The first day first event showed that the dalians were playing to win, with the folk dancers bagging the first position. Up next was the poster making which saw the dalians doing well but unfortunately the school didn’t feature in the top 3 but the school was given the consolation prize. The solo song was a sad disappointment but the last event of the day The English Debate brought back the spirit. The college team of Shantanu K. and Archit K. bringing home the 2nd overall position. Shantanu was adjudged the second best speaker.
The Hindi skit and clay modeling proved to be a slow start, but the pace picked up with the Jain Bandhu standing second in the GK quiz. Next up was the AdMad show which didn’t see the dalians proving their worth (what with the unibrow missing!!). Siddhant Sachdeva and Harshveer Jain finished off the day with a whopping second position in the Hindi debate.
The last day was no different from the others with the dalians showing who the dynamites are! The first event the orchestra was cleanly sweeped by the dalians with a clear cut victory. The self composed melody was which enough to sweep anyone of their feet, did the same to everyone present and the result was a bunch of happy dalians in the midst of a cheering crowd. The next event the panel discussion with our panelists Harshveer Jain and Siddhant Sachdeva got the school the second position. Harshveer Jain was the second best panelist with ‘on stage’ distractions leading to an enthusiastic performance by the Jain which also infused excitement in the fellow panelist, which on the whole proved to be a happy combination.
The last event of the Festival was the western dance and the dalians were the second best (we were being just very benign). The overall result saw the Daly College standing second after the host school. The overall trophy was awarded to the tremendously elated dalians with the happy Dir. Cultural affairs clapping for them with his head held up high.
On the whole the event was a satisfaction enough to compensate all the other cancellations and is now a reason enough for the much awaited treat, which the students are still awaiting.
