‘From Me To We’

Round Square Sub Junior Regional Conference e was hosted by Vidya Devi Jindal School Hisar from January 21 ,2009 to January 23 ,2009. The theme of the conference was From Me To We’
The Daly College team proceeded from Indore for the Pre conference Tour on 18th of January 2009 at 4.20 p.m. and reached Delhi at 6.00 a.m. The team consisted of Shivani Mangal, Avika Parekh , Sagar Surana Insiya Raja of class VI and Shreyas Bindal of class V with the teacher escort Mrs. Rakhi Sharma.
We visited Agra in the tour bus along with three other schools- Assam Valley School, The Millennium School, Dubai and VDJS, Hisar. Taj Mahal is regarded as one of the seven wonders of the world. Its stunning architectural beauty is beyond adequate description, particularly at dawn and sunset. After buying little souvenirs and taking photographs, the teams reached the hotel. Before dinner a puppet show was organized in the hotel which was immensely enjoyed by us. On 19th of January, we visited the Lotus Temple and had lunch at Delhi Haat.
Apart from The Daly College, there were 14 Regional Member schools participated including Chittagong Grammar School, Bangladesh, Indian High School, Dubai and the Millennium School, Dubai.
On 20 Jan, 2009 all the delegates arrived and at the evening had a wonderful time breaking Ice between the cultures by playing various games.
The conference started with inaugural ceremony on Jan 21, 2009. NCC drumbeats to the soft melodious music of the welcome song accorded warm welcome to the Chief Guest Brig. D S Grewal, Deputy GOC, 33 Armed Division and all the guests on the opening ceremony of the Conference.
The day began with lighting of the lamp and followed by the Invocation Dance Composition ‘Manglacharan’ which depicted the well being and the peace for the Mankind and the Universe.

The history of RSIS and the Round Square activities were highlighted by the students. The Principal, Ms Gunmeet Bindra, extended the warm welcome to the august gathering and shared her opinions on the importance of the society and relation between ‘Me to We’. The Chief Guest Brig .D.S. Grewal declared Sub Junior Regional Round Square International Services Conference ‘Open’ and also emphasized on the importance of the theme ‘ From Me to We’ which broadly means ‘We all are one’.
The spectacular contemporary choreography ‘ Megha Chaye’ was presented by the host school..
We played ice breaker games which helped us know each other better. We also visited the famous CN Tower and went shopping at the Eton centre. The next day, we visited the Distillery District, Lawrence market and the Royal Ontario Museum. The museum held a lot of history ranging from dinosaurs to medieval artifacts.

‘A leader resides within us.’ This came to realize when Brig. T. Mukherjee, AVSM shared his opinion with the young participants as the keynote speaker on the topic ‘Leadership’
.Attitude is the key to be a successful leader’ was the pivotal point of the discussion. The delegates gave a few examples of the great leaders like Mahatama Gandhi and Obama Barack. The attributes for becoming a leader were discussed like a person of substance, a patient listener, optimistic, impartial, exemplary etc. He should believe in motto ‘Never give up.’ Leader sees an opportunity in everything. The baraza session came to the conclusion that Change in our attitude will bring a change in our Leaders.”
The delegates learnt different instruments in a short span of time and created a thrilling performance in the programme ‘Beats Work’. It was conducted by Byculla Beats Boys Group.

Our guest students and teachers also had the chance to visit the Coin Blanching Unit, JSL, Hisar.
On the same day, Mrs Veena Yadav, President DOT AWWA had a round of our Academic Block. She lit the Bonfire. Paulis and Aundre of the fire and Ice Band sang some peppy numbers. Children danced and sang to these notes. Mrs Veena Yadav was mighty impressed with the layout of the School.
The second day of the conference started with a wonderful address by Mrs. Shashi Banerjee on Democracy. All the delegates had a wonderful ride with her in search of themselves. Later all the delegates had a fruitful discussion on the topic ‘Democracy’ and came out with a conclusion that it is the best form of government where each and every citizen feels that he is the part of the government. Activities like Rappelling, Zip Line and Mission Impossible added enthusiasm among the children. Tank ride : The children enjoyed the Tank and the infantry Combat vehicle ride at Military Station, Hisar. It was indeed a unique and a life time experience for them.
Bada Khana was organized as a part of sub junior Round Square Conference Service activity. It was an enriching experience.
The day, Jan 22, 2009 ended with a delicious dinner at the Jindal Club attended by all the delegates.
The third day started with a formidable address by Brig. Rajeev William on the topic Environment. He stressed on saving our mother planet- Earth and suggested various ways to do it. Later in Baraza the groups came out with very practical suggestions on saving our Environment. Some of the groups even took the oath to follow the suggested ways to protect the environment.
Under the Activity on Democracy, A mock election was organized and out of 15 registrations, five were short-listed. The lucky five got the chance of campaigning and all the delegates with their Voting Card voted for their choice.
Valedictory Function – The Chief Guest of the Valedictory function was Mr. S.C.Arora, an eminent Educationist and currently the Vice Chairman of Lotus Valley School, Noida. A variety entertainment programme was put up by all the participating delegates. A skit and a song put up by our school was much appreciated by everyone. Sagar Surana shared his experiences on the theme ‘From Me to We’ in front on the audience very creditably
